To read what your responses might be to these two videos. They are a documentary contribution from Mark Kelly. We watched these pieces in Class this week and found some very interesting perspectives at work Kelly's piece that could go a long way to support Durkheim, Marx and Freud's view of the nature and function of religion…

Kelly says, "I started this journey worried these christians were out to change my world, I am not worried anymore, because the truth is, I would never have known all of this was going on if I hadn't stepped into their world." So classic! I found it interesting that the only ones that seemed to make any sort of impression on him was the XXX church, the guys from Pillar and the moment when the actor playing Jesus was hanging on the cross (until someone's phone rang). He also made a comment about us Christians being afraid of the world. How can we ever hope to make an impact on the world if we do not know (and respect) those who are outside of our Christian world, and if we don't have the confidence that what we believe is relevant and works. Let's get out of the church!
amen.
